It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of makeup. It's not because I don't think it's great. It really does, but my reasoning comes out of sheer laziness. I've said it before, but I'll say it again: My normal routine is very minimal, even before these quarantine times. That makes preparing for the day a lot easier and gives me more time to sleep. And these days, I hardly ever wear make-up anymore because I was lucky enough to be able to work from home. Aside from an occasional important Zoom meeting where I needed to look extra presentable, I can probably guess I've touched my makeup products less than 100 times in the past year.
My usual line-up for a makeup look without makeup consists of a bit of concealer, mascara (after curling my lashes), maybe a dab of blush or light dusting of bronzer, and a fun lip color. But the product that really makes me succeed is a tinted sunscreen. It's my secret weapon when it comes to a minimal face.
A tinted sunscreen does two things for me. First, it gives me minimal coverage and improves my complexion, which makes my skin a bit more radiant and glowing. And second, it gives me much-needed SPF protection even when I'm inside all day (because you still need it!). Even though I don't currently wear makeup most days, I always wear my normal skin care products and my favorite sunscreen. That little bit makes me feel like at least I've tried for the day.
There are some great tinted sunscreens (and SP moisturizers) out there for pretty much any budget or price. If you want to start the game with tinted sunscreen or are looking for a new one, there are a few options below.
Supergoop! & # 39; S Glowscreen is my everyday tinted sunscreen. It's just that good. As the name suggests, it gives my skin a nice, healthy glow, even when my face is tired and a little lifeless. The formula is light and slightly runny, which means it is easy to apply and melts quickly into the skin. It also works as a makeup primer and has blue light protection.
CeraVe is a brand that dermatologists always recommend. This makes sense because the range is affordable, contains nourishing ingredients without fragrances or parabens, and is good for sensitive skin. The tinted version of the daily moisturizing sunscreen looks plain and good with a variety of skin tones. It is based on minerals with moisturizing ingredients such as ceramides and niacinamide.
Okay, yes, this is technically classified as a tinted moisturizer, but it also has SPF protection. And you could call it a cult favorite. What's special about this is that many traditional sunscreens don't come with a wide range of colors – this product has some great options. It also leaves a semi-matte finish while moisturizing and protecting against free radicals.
EltaMD is another dermatologist's favorite. This tinted moisturizer has SPF 46 and zinc oxide protection. It also contains nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like niacinamide, antioxidants, and sodium hyaluronate.
The mineral sun protection from Sun Bum is easy to apply and also works well as a primer. The lightweight formula leaves no greasy finish and is waterproof for up to 40 minutes. This is perfect if you want to sweat or swim.
Here is another non-chemical sunscreen option. The 100% mineral sunscreen also contains protective antioxidant botanicals such as cockatoo plums, eucalyptus and red algae.
Since this has SPF 30, I'll call it a mix between a tinted moisturizer and a tinted sunscreen. The sheer tint leaves a lovely sheen with just a subtle sheen. The moisturizing part contains vitamins A, C and E.
This sun protection is super light and gives your skin a warm glow and a matt finish. The water-resistant formula lasts 80 minutes.
Sensitive and acne prone skin types can use this sunscreen without irritation. The 100% mineral-based sun protection contains titanium dioxide, vitamin E and a very pure tint.
This more tinted moisturizer that might as well be a tinted sunscreen from First Aid Beauty has a number of colors to choose from. It provides up to 12 hours of hydration and sun protection factor. Ingredients are colloidal oatmeal, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E.
The light cream formula from Drunk Elephant protects against free radicals and environmental stressors and offers UVA / UVB broadband protection. The tint is on the bare side and doesn't leave a greasy feel.
If you're looking for a physical sunscreen option, PCA Skin tinted sunscreen offers titanium dioxide and zinc oxide protection. The water-resistant formula also contains Coenzyme Q10 to fight free radicals.
At $ 170, Sisley Paris tinted sun protection is a real treat. The non-greasy and water-resistant cream is particularly suitable for people with sensitive or light skin who may need more sun protection factor. It also smells of essential oils made from sage and marjoram.
Many Who What Wear editors have become obsessed with Ilias tinted serum. The clean formula contains squalane to improve elasticity, niacinamide to smooth the texture and hyaluronic acid to absorb moisture. Another bonus? There are 18 colors.
Here is another physical sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide protection. The lightweight formula is easy to apply, does not feel greasy and gives your skin a radiant glow. It's also waterproof for up to 40 minutes.
I always curl my eyelashes which really makes my eyes pop. I don't have thick eyelashes and they tend to stay straight. When I curl them, they get a little more volume.
After curling my eyelashes, I need to apply mascara. I love Ilia because it makes my lashes look extra long (even though they aren't at all) and the formula is natural.
Gimme Brow by Benefit is probably my top product. It just does a good job filling in and controlling my sometimes unruly brows. Plus, it's so easy to use.
While I like to keep my makeup minimal, I like to enhance it with my lip product. I am drawn to bold lip colors to complete my look.
I usually just do tinted moisturizer, mascara, brow gel, and a lip product, but sometimes when I want an even more radiant look I go with a blush or bronzer. This blush from merit is one of my current favorites. It goes on so easily (but you can build on it if you want). You can use it on your lids as well.
If I want to shine even more sun-kissed, I apply a bronzer. Charlotte Tilbury & # 39; s leaves a matte finish and contains hyaluronic acid. Next, if this ingredient is missing from your routine, sabotaging your skin
