There are no scary bikinis, and I found them

Hello there 🙂

I used to be just a bikini person, but my taste has changed over the years, and I've become more and more a one-piece person in recent years. (What I never predicted I would say back when I was wearing a string bikini in my high school and college days.)

To be honest, I generally don't wear swimsuits, although I've lived in California for most of the past decade. I'm pretty sure I can count the number of times I've put on a swimsuit last year. But my interest in swimwear was significantly higher than usual this year as my honeymoon in Mexico is fast approaching.

I am determined not to have to wear a swimsuit twice on my tropical vacation, so I decided to bring eight swimsuits. But that's a lot of one-pieces, people. So I made it my new life's work (one of them) to find the cutest, least scary bikinis on the internet without the words "string" or "cheeky" in the description. What I've discovered are countless flattering options, including high-waisted and blooming (trust me – they're cool) bottoms, modesty-friendly ruffles, and bandeau tops. Buy 15 of my scary favorite bikinis below so you can give your one-piece breaks a break this summer from time to time.

Complete the set: H & M Bottoms ($ 13). Your eyes won't deceive you – this is really affordable.

Complete the set: Madewell Bikini Bottoms ($ 45). So retro. So cool.

I call that a happy swimsuit.

Wear this and wait for the compliments to come in.

Finish the set: ModCloth High-Waist Bottoms ($ 20). The sleeves on this are very chic.

The metallic accent here is so pretty.

You can't go wrong with animal motifs.

Complete the set: Solid & Striped The Brigitte Bottoms ($ 88). The snake skin print is incredibly fashionable.

Complete the set: Wolf & Whistle Bikini Bottoms ($ 14). Simple and elegant.

Ruffles are so trendy right now.

Complete the set: & Other Stories Briefs ($ 25). This green hue is where it is.

The cutouts and crisscross details make this color-blocked swimsuit particularly "up-to-date".

Complete the set: L * Space Bikini Bottoms ($ 99). The V accent gives this bikini something special.

Complete the set: Robin Piccone Bikini Bottoms ($ 74). The tie accent is pretty cute.

If you feel like a treat, it is more than worthy.

Still looking? Next, shop for more modest swimsuits.
