Hello there 🙂
If you scroll through my IG feed for 2 seconds, you will quickly find that color is not my thing. No, I'm not averse to a bold shade. In fact, I always suggest color when I give styling advice. I was never personally interested. So you can imagine my thoughts on the highlighter craze we saw on the runway this year, from Prada to Valentino to Prabal Gurung. Yes, slightly scared. Now that the 80s-inspired look has permeated the street style set (which shows that neon elements can work in real life), I'm slowly wondering if it could actually work for me.
What are your thoughts? Is the look fascinating? Well, if you're interested in dipping your toe in this trend pool, keep scrolling and looking at six seamless ways that neon works in your daily look. Also buy some of my favorite highlighter picks if you need more inspiration. We will test this together.
If you're really into it all winter, try a neon coat to make a statement. My suggestion is to opt for more neutral separations to balance out the look.
Relax in the trend by testing neon in your shoe selection. To avoid the full-on look of the 80s (although I know this is a trend), combine them with modern pieces like straight-leg jeans and a patterned coat.
Give your uniform the necessary pop with a lively top, as this street style star presents with its neon sweater, blazer, jeans and booties.
A bag in highlighter color is bold without being over the top if that fits your style better. I would suggest choosing a yellow or pink style to get the best possible look.
If you want to try a neon t-shirt, consider pairing it with more polished pieces like wide-leg pants and heels to create a balanced and elevated ensemble.
This outfit proves that only a hint of the highlighter trend – a belt – can still have a massive effect.
