Hello there 🙂
As anyone knows who has ever accidentally worn something uncomfortable to travel with, it can make your day longer or shorter. I understand that this sounds dramatic, but as someone who used to travel in high-waisted 100% cotton jeans (I know …), I can vouch for it. While we regularly report on the excellent airport outfits that women of all ages wear, I firmly believe that women over 50 are a good source of non-verbal style advice.
At the age of 50 you have been traveling for decades and have gained a lot of wisdom when it comes to what to wear for a specific occasion, including travel days. I studied the airport outfits of stylish women like Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore and noticed some patterns related to the comfortable basics they wear. Keep scrolling to learn from their examples and buy the recommended travel guides.
If you're traveling with anti-jeans and anti-leggings (I understand), Julianne Moore's loose pants are the answer. They are also a trend right now. The blazer is optional.
Do you want something more polished than sneakers, but just as comfortable? Follow Nicole Kidman's guide and carry a pair of ballerinas to the airport.
While sweatpants once looked sloppy, they're now a trend and they're approved by J. Lo. (Tip: wearing a matching sweatshirt gives a little more shine.)
If you want to go somewhere straight from the airport and look chic, do without the sneakers and wear a pair of flat ankle boots like Andie Macdowell.
The nice thing about a cashmere sweater is that it is warm but not bulky. It is really the perfect complement to jeans, as the French actress Isabelle Huppert has expertly shown.
You don't have to look like going to the gym wearing leggings to the airport. Just follow Viola Davis' example and combine them with a wool coat and ankle boots.
Some may make fun of the idea of wearing skinny jeans on the plane, but if you choose a pair with stretch (as Yolanda Hadid did), you won't regret it at all.
