H&M fans can look forward to a real surprise, as tiresome trying on could soon be a thing of the past. With a new app, a digital changing room is to be created that shows you whether a part fits you or not!
We have wished for that for a long time – in summer / autumn 2021 it should finally be ready: H & Mbeyond. and NeXR Technologies SE cooperate to bring a virtual fitting tool to market. The aim should soon be that customers no longer have to try on every part in the store or order online to see whether it fits. Rather, they should be able to check on their smartphones whether a purchase is worthwhile. How is this supposed to work? We explain that here.
Prototype of the virtual fitting planned for autumn 2021
To make shopping even faster and easier in the future, H&M plans to allow customers to be scanned in selected stores from autumn and receive a personal avatar – a digital self, so to speak. With the help of a matching app, which, by the way, will be released in summer, consumers should then be able to try out clothes on their virtual, three-dimensional counterpart. Are the trousers really long enough, is the blouse sitting correctly on the chest or does the color even suit me? – all questions that could be resolved in seconds.
Interesting tool for online and stationary trade
The technology could not only ensure that the return behavior in the online sector changes, the innovation could also make stationary retailers much more interesting for customers. Oliver Lange from H & Mbeyond, H & M's innovation lab, emphasized in a press release: “We are always looking for innovative solutions and technologies that, for example, make the shopping experience in stationary retail more attractive and exciting. With the pilot project we want to test together with our customers whether 'digital changing rooms' can help them with the selection of styles, dress sizes and ultimately with the purchase decision – NeXR is a great partner for this.
