Hello there 🙂

Why, yes, it is again this time of year: it's the glorious start of the fashion month. The Fall / Winter 2021 shows officially kicked off in New York this week, and while the pandemic has limited the number of in-person events, the show has to go on (literally). Practically of course. In addition to the mainstays in New York like Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung, we're excited to see Maisie Wilen and PH5 brands getting hotter by the minute.

Let's face it – the frenzied week can be a bit overwhelming to digest. So think of this as your ultimate Big Apple shows cheat sheet. Below, each notable show is broken down with the standout looks and the resulting trends. Expect these looks to be all over your Instagram feeds next spring. Don't say we didn't warn you.

As of now in 2021, we've already seen the neckline trend catching on, but given the recent fall / winter collections we've looked at this week, the eye-catching silhouettes are going nowhere. We're bookmarking the hollowed-out knitwear as featured by Jonathan Simkhai and Bevza as a potential key purchase for fall.

Coats so puffy and cloud-like that you're tempted to take a nap – that's the mood for fall. Many designers from Marina Moscone to Claudia Li are on board and show quilted puffer coats in their collections, which range from crystal embellished to reserved.

We first saw the sweater vests trend last September, and I'll just put it this way: we told you. Now that the runways have spoken in New York this fall, we can confirm that the rope is officially here to stay. How do I wear it for fall? Layered over a long skirt à la Jason Wu, Bevza and PH5.

Obviously, nothing is immune to the world of the Bridgerton fandom. A fashion aesthetic emerges in the wake of the iconic Netflix show that everyone and their mom are obsessed with. These themes were repeated on the runways this fall, where Prabal Gurung and Markarian's evening attire matches the corsets, floral prints, and dainty bows that define the look.

There's a new neutrality in town and it feels completely fresh from what we've seen in previous seasons. This week, the NYC catwalks hit deep indigo in all sorts of ensembles, from western-inspired denim to sleek suits.

We were less of a trend than a styling trick. We saw some of these layered t-shirt moments and just couldn't ignore them. They have a long sleeved t-shirt of a light color underneath a boxer t-shirt that feels very skater-inspired. As per private policy, this is an easy way to add a pop of color to an all black look.

Next, see the six sandal trends I predict that will define summer 2021.
