Everyone has their tactic of procrastinating – maybe update your Instagram feed, whip up an elaborate meal, or take a leisurely stroll if you postpone a task. My personal coping mechanism? Create shopping lists. No matter what mood I'm in or why I'm trying to kill the time, my first instinct is to make a list of the things I need – well, mostly things I need want but actually don't need it. Shopping lists, any task lists and yes, shopping lists.
As a fashion editor, I have an overview of my favorite brands and boutiques owned or designed by Black Talent. These names are in the foreground all year round, but with February being Black History Month, this is the perfect time to highlight all of the stunning black-owned fashion items that are occupying my shopping cart (and headspace) right now. In the following issue you will find a range of articles, from pretty pearl earrings to reworked knitwear and brands from smaller indie labels like LaSette and A.au to heavyweights in the industry like Telfar and Victor Gelmaud. This one goes to you, Who What Wear readers, because there is no one who loves a good shopping list more than you (except yours, really).
