Hello there 🙂
Here is the tea.
As a beauty editor, it's no secret that our job is to know (and try out) pretty much every makeup brand on the market, whether it's a popular label that is as contactless as mine Father would recognize it, or slowly but surely climb the ranks of fame by a lesser known brand. We don't discriminate and have even made it our mission to test some of the most popular makeup brands like Charlotte Tilbury and Marc Jacobs to see if their most iconic products can stand the hype. With so many makeup brands on the market, this has made us think about which popular names are the best. In addition, which popular makeup brands are so good that innocent viewers (such as our employees, friends, family, significant others, or even strangers) acknowledge this with compliments? My beauty PIC Courtney Higgs and I put our heads together to put together the ultimate list of 20 popular makeup brands that keep complimenting. Be it frenzied DMs who ask us what products we wear, or IRL questions at an unusual event or work meeting, we share the exact brand names and formulas that help us do our best – even without the compliments mentioned above trigger them. Scroll on! Courtney: This foundation offers excellent coverage and a blur effect that makes your skin look flawless. I think it's great that it offers such a wide range of colors that beauties of every skin tone can experience the magic. Erin: This foundation is my secret weapon to fake the look of perfect skin. Whenever I wear it, people freak out and say how good my makeup looks. I haven't found a foolproof option yet, and it's even more magical if you apply it to Charlotte Tilbury's cult-beloved Magic Cream ($ 100). Erin: To be honest, I was very happy with my highlight routine before I tried this practical wand one morning. Well, it has turned my world upside down. It is so pretty. I put a little on the back of my hand, immerse a slightly damp beauty blender and then dab it on the highlights of my face, where I want to highlight it, gradually mix it in and polish it in. It melts seamlessly into the foundation and I get so many questions and DMs about which highlighter or which make-up I wear when I'm wearing it. "It doesn't happen very often that I immerse myself in an eyeshadow palette and feel like my makeup is on point," Courtney says. "I don't know what these shadows are about, but they are so soft and miscible that I now have new confidence in using eyeshadows." Erin: I don't like dramatic eye shadows and I usually prefer liquid or cream formulas instead of powder. Unfortunately, these three-layer pots are so practical, pretty, and easy to mix and experiment with. (I don't even use a brush.) I love a shimmering lid, and these offer the most striking payoff. People always ask which eye shadow I wear. Erin: I was really interested in a natural, pillow-like lip. I like how light as a feather, miscible and moisturizing this formula is, and the colors offer a wide range of neutral tones that basically only improve your natural lip tone. Big fan. Erin: There are only a few primers that I love in this world, and these staple foods for makeup artists are one of them. The formula is available in different colors, all of which are aimed at color correction. My favorite is the yellow, which helps counter dark spots and discoloration and helps to disperse them, while improving my complexion with ingredients from the skin care caliber. Erin: This is one of the few foundations that I have found that is fully buildable. No matter how much product or how many layers I add, it always delivers a radiant, skin-like finish. Makeup artists rely on this formula on the set and on red carpets because it lasts so long and well and basically looks invisible. Erin: Not only have I received compliments when I wear this slightly shimmering liquid eye shadow, but when I compliment someone else in the office for their eye make-up, they pretty much always have it on. Highly recommended, especially if you find eyeshadows usually intimidating. Erin: Although I'm seriously obsessed with Kosa's lipsticks and lip oils, I have to say that the creamy blush and highlight palettes are like an instant pick-me-up for my constantly tired face. They blend very well with your skin and honestly look more flattering and natural throughout the day. My favorite colors are Tropic Equinox and 8th Muse – compliment insurance with 100% guaranteed satisfaction. Erin: Courtney and I were both completely stunned when we first tried this new seria foundation SPF hybrid from Ilia. Historically, none of us like tinted moisturizers or tinted serums, and we had seriously low expectations. Well, color us in surprise when we both applied the formula one morning and looked at our reflections. Basically, it sinks and fits directly into your complexion without being recognizable. At the same time, it offers a moist (not greasy!) Finish and camouflages all imperfections. It's witchcraft! Erin: My 73 year old mother and I love this beautiful liquid highlighter from Ilia. It is non-toxic, non-shimmering, super miscible and offers the most breathtaking dose of radiation. It is a must. Courtney: If you are still questioning the validity of all awards this foundation receives, stop it! It is so good. Just give it a try. Courtney: This beautiful highlighter is soft and bright without glittering. It has a subtle yet buildable sheen. Courtney: This liquid highlighter gel is everything. Glowing, glassy skin is just a pump away. The matching Glass Glow Lip Gloss ($ 26) is one of my favorites. Together they are a winning combination, and the compliments always come when I apply. Erin: I discovered this product for the first time when a makeup artist applied it to me during a press trip. It's super thick and creamy, but it polishes and melts like a dream. You can use it as a base or concealer, and I love that the smallest piece goes a super long way. That and it completely hides any pigmentation, stains or shadows. It's always in my make-up bag. When people say how good my skin looks, I wish I didn't have to blame this formula for success! What a great find. Courtney: This gel foundation is super springy and offers amazing coverage. I love it for those times when I want to have a little more moisture without feeling like I'm wearing 10 pounds of makeup. Courtney: This lipstick is so light that after applying it you practically forget that it's there. I love how one layer gives a nice, natural looking flush. Courtney: I was ready to hate that foundation, but it's so good. It has a super thin consistency, but the color payoff is really incredible. (Erin is also a fan!) Courtney: This pigmented setting powder is not super pigmented, but offers just enough coverage to smooth the complexion. I like wiping it off while my moisturizer is still damp so it melts a little and forms a skin-like veil. Erin: It's no secret that Nars does the most iconic blush formula in history. And the hype is real! Of course, I love orgasm, but some of my other must-have colors are Sex Appeal, Deep Throat, Outlaw, Desire and Seduction. Courtney: This tinted moisturizer works and wears like a light foundation and has a sun protection factor. Courtney: This concealer changes life. When I apply it alone to lighten my under eye, I get enough luminosity that I often don't have any other make-up on my face. Courtney: Erin and I agree that this light finishing powder is light and bright. It lays the foundation without making you look cake-like or over the top. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Courtney: MAC eye shadows are so much fun. This particular shade may look out there, but I like to use it for my eyes and get it as a blush. It's all on brown skin. Trust me. Erin: Sisley-Paris is known for its dreamy French skin care, but it also makes great makeup. It's expensive, but if your budget has the range, these moisturizing lip twists deliver the nicest dash of juicy color. Erin: I'm also a big fan of the new eye shadows. They have a unique formula that is half powder, half cream and that delivers a lot of pigment with the perfect ratio of eye-catching shimmer. No matter what shade I wear, people always have to ask! Erin: Okay, I love my collection of Rouge von Nars, but I have to say that I could love Hourglass & Radiant Rouge more. When I'm in a hurry, they're the perfect antidote to add color and shine to my complexion, which I really appreciate. It's also practically impossible to apply too much because they're so diffuse and pretty. Diffuse heat and radiant magenta have been in my arsenal for years. Erin: Similar to the blush from this collection, these bronzers are so breathtaking and give you the right amount of bronze and shine – never OTT or unnatural, which I really appreciate. This bronzer is one of my best kept secrets to be as photogenic as possible. (It almost offers a blurry, filter-like effect.) Erin: If I don't have time and I want my face to look as flawless as possible, I use this famous CC cream from It Cosmetics. It is so famous that when people ask what products I wear, they nod as if they knew the answer was coming. It can get a little shiny, so I recommend the matte version if you have a greasier skin temperament. Erin: I am also a big fan of this all-over moisturizer. It instantly blurs everything you want to hide, merges like a dream, contains so many skin care quality ingredients and strengthens your complexion with essential moisture. It is very similar to the CC cream, to be honest, but has a little lighter coverage and an even lighter consistency. (So yes, basically your face feels bare as possible.) Erin: This foundation is not for the faint of heart. A little goes a long way and is very comprehensive. That said, your skin looks like an Instagram IRL filter. It's my favorite when I don't have time to tinker with concealer and polish, camouflage and mix a lot. Erin: The same goes for this groundbreaking concealer! It's one of the least wrinkled formulas I've tried, it has great full coverage, but it's super creamy and easy to spread and mix, unlike other full coverage concealers I've tried that are sticky or coarse can be. It is the best antidote to super dark circles or pimples or scars that are difficult to cover. Erin: I have a rotation of about five foundations that I really love and recommend to my friends, family and the DMs I receive! I love, love, love this foundation by Laura Mercier. The cover is fantastic and super buildable, the colors are in a nutshell and it has the perfect matte but not too matte finish. It doesn't budge either. They are not joking with the "ultra-longwear" in the name. (Although it doesn't look cake-like or heavy.) The coordinating concealer is another top recommendation that I shout to anyone who listens. Erin: Words cannot describe how breathtaking this highlighter is. Seriously, I couldn't wear anything else, and I'm pretty sure it would make me look glamorous. It's durable, easy to layer, and can go anywhere without looking too much. (Although I like my cupid's bow, cheekbones, bridge of the nose and eyelids like an eye shadow.) Erin: I don't remember what life was like with BPML (before Pat McGrath Labs). Let one of the best-known makeup artists in history create the foundation (and foundation – see below) that creates the illusion of porous, velvety smooth skin. (After all, it's its distinctive aesthetic.) This contains hyaluronic acid and cosmetic fill powder that work together to smooth, fill, and create the ultimate, internally-lit canvas for your foundation. Erin: When I was wearing this foundation at a really fancy event, a complete stranger (actually a very well-known fashion influencer) screamed across the table and asked what I was wearing on my face to make my skin look so damned perfect. McGrath's formula is different from any other foundation I've tried. It gets better and looks nicer the longer you wear it (it adapts to your skin). It also contains luxurious ingredients such as the brand's Vita Serum Complex, which moisturizes and fights wrinkles at the same time, and Diamond Core Powder technology to improve the skin's texture, smoothness, blurriness and diffuse appearance of other potential skin problems such as fine lines , enlarged pores or even blemishes. Courtney: Liquid eyeliner enthusiasts know what's going on. This OG eyeliner is the absolute truth. That is, if you like thinner, sharper lines, then this one (which has a finer tip) is the liner for you. Erin: I'll keep it simple: this is one of my favorite makeup products ever. The mixture of pigment and shimmer is such a pick-me-up. In addition, the natural flush is really so credible despite the shimmer and has the coveted post-gym glow atmosphere (without gym). Light bulb is my favorite flattering shade. Erin: I'm a glitter fiend, and that's my favorite formula ever. Makeup artists love it too, and I guess it doesn't have any impact, it's super easy and easy to apply (thanks to this doe) and can be layered depending on how subtle or dramatic your look should be. I used Diamond Dust and Wanderlust the most. Erin: A really satisfying bronzer is hard to come by, which is why Too Faced has stayed in my top 3 since college. I keep coming back to it. It mixes well and never looks muddy, orange or shimmering. It is the perfect matte bronzer. Erin: Another favorite that I've loved since college. I appreciate the full coverage and the feeling of weightlessness. It's one of those iconic formulas that I deviate from, and when I come back inevitably, I wonder why I've ever been unfaithful. The color palette is also one of the best. Erin: I'll be 100% honest here. I used to be a die-hard Stila liner fan, but this double-sided liner from Tarte converted me. I use the black and brown religiously and love that I can effortlessly add some depth and momentum to the base of my eyelashes with the pencil liner and then use the other side of the same tool to add the perfect moment for flick or liquid liner. It doesn't move and lasts surprisingly long than other liners I've tried. Erin: Okay, so I might have saved the best at the end. This lesser-known moisturizing foundation from Tarte is the common denominator when I get a compliment on my makeup or skin. It keeps me hydrated but never shiny or oily, and it also makes every makeup I put on look pretty flawless.
