Since moving to California, black jeans feel a bit tough for those breezy, sunny days. I have fully embraced light-washed denim. but I'm still not ready to give up on my dark washing couples completely. For that I choose black acid wash. I can still wear them with anything I usually wear with my black jeans, so it's not a big style change and they look lighter.
Last year it was all about knit tops, but now I'm excited to try something different. Brands like A.W.A.K.E. Fashion and Ganni can't get enough of dramatic balloon sleeves so I figured I'd take a page out of their books and adopt this style for spring. They're a lot easier to pair than they appear, but in the spirit of experimentation, I don't want to spoil myself just yet, so I'll try this piece from the Who What Wear's Target collection. It's only $ 28 but looks a lot more expensive.
The chambray shirt is another style I choose to clean up. Rarely do I reach for them and instead opt for heavier denim jackets that are easier to put over t-shirts and coordinate with my abundance of sweatpants. When I want the look of a layer of jeans, I've discovered the hack of leaving a denim dress unbuttoned to style it as a duster. The result is an extremely versatile piece.
Flower patterns are so closely related to spring fashion that it's a problem at this point. But the truth is, some flowers have felt out of date to me for a while. Particularly delicate flowers that look too pretty and precious. While a moody dark floral design will always be a mainstay in my closet, variations of light denim will replace most of my flowery dresses. I'll start with this Acid Wash Mini, but I plan to add different shades of denim as well, like Zara's Bubblegum Pink denim jeans.
It's too cold for sandals and too hot for boots – these 23 shoes are just the thing.
