Hello there 🙂
Good or bad, the pandemic has changed the way consumers read and read goods. Gone are the days of having an iced coffee and casually poking my head in Zara on the way back to Who What Wear's New York City office. Instead, I've cemented a humble routine of cold brew at home and endlessly scrolling through my associate editor's latest finds – sometimes while walking around the block when the weather permits.
Not only has the pandemic changed so much of our daily routine, it has also affected my personal sense of style. High heels, liquid liners and seasonal decor are gathering dust as they have been replaced by a mix of cozy sweaters, subtle highlighters and high-quality basics. While not taking a break from wearing jewelry for a few months, I decided to regain my shine in 2021 and continue to advocate an ethos of buying fewer and better quality pieces whenever possible. Fortunately, I had my colleagues from Who What Wear point me in the right direction.
When I checked my recent purchases, I found that I have only shopped for three brands of fashion, beauty and jewelry so far as of 2021. Granted, it's only March, but still, if you hone your personal style and have a minimalist aesthetic, let’s officially put Quince, Merit and Stone and Beach on your radar.
I am very special about fabrics and I prefer clothes made of cotton, linen, silk or cashmere. With that in mind, I was delighted to discover Quince, who stocks a selection of clothing, jewelry, homewares, and leather goods.
Since reading Who What Wear, you've probably already known our sister brand Merit. I know Katherine Power came up with this clean, five-minute face brand before the pandemic, but it was certainly made for the current era of minimalist beauty.
I have a love-hate relationship with jewelry. I love to wear it, but I hate worrying about taking it off or damaging it and consequently forgetting to put it back on. Stone and Strand solves this mystery for me by creating beautiful, high quality pieces that are both sturdy and special enough to be worn every day.
Next up: I stopped wearing jewelry during quarantine – this is how I got my shine back
