Hello there 🙂
If it were another year, we'd sit down to discuss the key street style moments from last season and make predictions about what the fashion audience will attract to the next series of shows. Obviously this isn't any other year and with continued travel restrictions making personal runway shows obsolete, the typical street style scene (if at all) is no longer really a thing. Of course, that never stopped the stylish set from dressing up and sharing their best looks with us. They just went digital.
The same goes for the potential street style trends of 2021. Instead of scanning the latest pictures from New York, London, Milan and Paris, we digged deep into our favorite visitors' Instagram feeds and they found a few common themes among them. Seven topics, to be precise. Read on to discover the biggest trends that would otherwise be causing a sensation at Fashion Week – from the new spring statement color that just can't be missed to the eye-catching dress trend we're particularly excited about .
There are lots of bright colors out there right now, but one that is causing the most buzz in the fashion set and our own editors are Bubblegum Pink. The hue, which cannot be overlooked, photographs particularly well, one reason why we are convinced that it would rule the street style scene.
It wouldn't be a street style story if we didn't discuss at least one "risky" trend, and right now those creative clippings are the focus. Whether it's a dress with side cutouts à la Cult Gaia or a simple top with an asymmetrical neckline, these pieces are stunning both online and on the IRL.
Although statement trends are often in the spotlight, the fashion set also has a sweet spot for its cool basics. The basic du jour? These matching pants have an extremely relaxed, loose fit, especially in a light khaki color. The "grandpa" mood is strong here.
Fashion has always been intrigued by undermining popular beliefs about what is considered pretty, and here we have a new "ugly" trend that everyone is embracing lately: sticky flowers. Think of the cheesy prints that came straight out of your mother's closet in the 80s: high saturation, busy patterns, and flowers on your face.
You didn't think we were going to skip the shoe trends, did you? Strappy sandals are upgraded this year with asymmetrical straps and lots of toe ring details that give the word complicated a new meaning.
If we know anything about street style trends, it's that the more flashy the better. Checkerboard prints are a trend that was trending earlier this year, and we expect it to gain momentum as designers experiment with the graphic pattern.
