I was almost completely neutral about NYC last week - see my 5 outfits

Hello there 🙂

If I had to choose a fashion motto to capture the current zeitgeist, it would be "less is more". This certainly applies to the growing awareness of the fashion industry sustainability and also for "Make-under" look that has become popular lately. When I dressed for New York Fashion Week this season, I leaned on both, leaning on neutral colors, and wearing some of my braces again (see if you can see the turtleneck sweater I was wearing last season and basically every single week since then) and borrowing samples instead of buying new pieces that fit my “Fashion Week version” but not my real life. I made sure that I stay in my favorite place in NYC. Hotel Hugothat is an easy walk to many of the shows. It doesn't hurt that there's also a special rooftop bar and especially friendly staff ready to navigate through a barrage of NYFW deliveries and invitations. When I couldn't make it, BMW kindly provided transportation because it had partnered with IMG for this season's NYFW. Scroll down to see the five outfits I've been wearing in New York for a week. Although they are still “photographable” with outstanding elements, they are decidedly more reserved and neutral than the past seasons.

Who said black and brown don't go together? I almost chose a black wallet here, but senior market editor Bobby Schuessler (pictured) said the rich caramel was a nice contrast. He was right.

While I could have easily opted for blue jeans here, cream-colored, wide-leg denim was a little more unexpected. A chocolate patent coat was the perfect choice to protect me from the elements.

While pistachios are not completely neutral, the pastel is rather reserved and goes perfectly with cream.

Purchase the matching draped twill wide leg pleated cargo pants ($ 445).

This outfit comes closest to what I would wear in my everyday life in Los Angeles. Coated denim, flat boots and a trench coat are my new trifecta for rainy days.

A camel confection! This is actually a combination of jacket and skirt made by a sustainable LA designer. Bonus: it is on sale.

Next, check out more NYC-approved outfits.
