Hello there 🙂

In my eternal quest to find glowing skin, I've tried hundreds of products. I'm talking about everything from detergents and toners to moisturizers and masks. (The number of lightening serums I tested is in a category of its own.) Though I have my favorites – Cosrx's Triple C Lightening Liquid ($ 27) and Peach & Lily's Super Reboot Resurfacing Mask ($ 43) – I'm closed I have come to the conclusion that I will be testing new products forever and ever because I am committed to finding the best, most effective ones out there. Plus, as a beauty writer, it's literally my job. Nevertheless, I continue as a demanding critic. That brings me to the other day when Versed's $ 10 whitening mask hit my desk (or should I say my target pocket?). While I don't usually differentiate between high-end and drugstore products, I have to say that because of the $ 10 price tag, I questioned its whitening capabilities. However, with a lot of celebrity fans (pictures for proof at the end of this post), I figured I would give it a try. Spoiler alert: it worked. Keep scrolling to read my full review. PS: Today, February 23rd, Versed is offering a 10% discount with the code VIPLOVE10.

The mask in question is this one – Versed's photos, please lighten, tighten. It uses red kaolin clay to gently exfoliate the skin, while antioxidant-rich turmeric brightens and evens skin tone. It's also formulated with witch hazel to add a firming effect to the skin.

The first thing I have to say about this mask is actually not the mask. It's about the packaging. The mask comes in a handy pouch, which makes it less messy to use than traditional clay masks as you can simply press it onto your skin straight from the packaging. There is no scooping and smearing. I also like the fact that it saves shelf space, which is a precious commodity in my home … I am grateful, as is my tiny bathroom.

The reason I love lightening products so much is because my skin has an affinity for dullness. My dry, red-prone skin lacks natural radiance. As you can see, without makeup and despite my best efforts, my complexion looks pretty tired to say the least.

When using it, I was happily surprised that the mask was smooth and creamy. It lacked the coarse, grainy texture of other clay masks which happens to be why I avoided them in the past.

I applied it all around my face and waited the recommended 15 minutes for it to do its job. Again, I was happily surprised that there wasn't an extremely drying feeling like there is with other clay masks (you know, when it feels like you've just dipped your face in damp cement). He felt good, I dare to say, good.

After wiping it down with warm water and a washcloth, my skin was a little pink, but this is nothing new. (As someone who has a moderate case of rosacea, I'm used to it.) Other than the slight redness, I noticed that a certain brightness had returned to my complexion – an internally lit look – that was almost like a glow after the training. I also noticed that the sagging skin around my eyes and lips seemed subtly tighter and bolder.

Half an hour later, the brightness was still visible so all I needed was a light touch of concealer under my eyes and around my nose, along with a coat of mascara to feel ready for the day. This is a big deal as most days I won't be starting Zoom meetings without applying to my beloved Chanel Les Beiges Foundation ($ 60).

Before you hit the Add to Cart button, know that there are two more iterations of this face mask, each costing $ 10 each. One is moisturizing and one is cleansing. You can turn them in and out at a specific time depending on your skin's needs.

This moisturizing mask is made from aloe vera, rose hip oil and a plant-based collagen alternative. All of these ingredients work together to moisturize and plump the skin.

The Find Clarity Purifying Mask uses two different types of charcoal and clay to gently exfoliate the skin and remove impurities. Prominent fans of this mask include Chrissy Teigen, Kourtney Kardashian, Chriselle Lim and Whitney Port.

Do you remember when I said I am struggling with boredom and hyperpigmentation? That's why I don't have this toner anymore. It contains vitamin C, kojic acid, and azelaic acid to lighten the skin and eliminate hyperpigmentation. It's also gentle enough to be used on a daily basis.

Along with the toner above, I will put these reusable cotton pads in my shopping cart. Why? Because sustainability is sexy and disposable cotton pads are a thing of the past.

What's One of the Best Ways to Prevent Hyperpigmentation? If you said sunscreen you get a gold star. This one never (and I never mean) leaves a white sheen, which means I can wear it with or without makeup. Plus, the lightweight, oil-free formula doesn't break me out. It's a win-win situation.

Here's another mask I turn to when addressing my skin's affinity for dullness. It's formulated with a combination of AHAs and BHAs to remove dead skin and pore-clogging debris, while vitamin C-rich pineapple and papaya enzymes work on dark areas.

I love a good lip oil. Not only are they silky and luxurious, but they are also very moisturizing, which is important for me and my dry and peeling winter lips. This lip oil is no exception to the rule. I could use it all day … wait, I actually use it all day.

Skin care means taking care of all of your skin, not just the skin on your face. To keep everything under my neck hydrated, I love this silky body oil. It's a dry oil, which means it's quickly absorbed and doesn't leave a greasy film on your skin like others on the market (ahem).
