Hello there 🙂
I think it's safe to say that most people don't have infinite space in their closets. And in my case, the hangers shortage problem is real. But I love shopping and I always try to refresh my collection of basics and try out new trends every season. Instead of taking over the closet in my guest room, I tidy my closet every spring and fall (at least) to make room for new things in my closet. It's a challenge for an indecisive person like me, but it also feels great to let go of things that are taking up precious storage space.
This season I was very tempted to offer staples like mango, zara, and reformation, to name a few. And staples don't just have to mean boring basics. These can also be trends that you wear repeatedly throughout the season (and possibly even beyond). Now that I have some retail space in my closet, here are the staples I shop for. Read on to join me.
Round-toe shoes have been eclipsed by square-toe shoes for the past few seasons. And while I'm sure the round toes will be back, I let go of some. The spring shoe trend that I want to put in their place is flat-form flip-flops.
I'm sure you've heard all you need to hear about the skinny jeans versus baggy jeans debate. At the moment I only buy loose jeans, so I'm going to sort out the skinny jeans that I admittedly haven't worn in years.
I think we have Bridgerton to thank for it. Instead of the breezy boho dresses of the past seasons, dresses with puff sleeves, empire waist bands and pretty toilet prints have become the style we all prefer.
It looks like we have peaked. What's next? I don't know about you, but I love a merch t-shirt and am always looking for fresh logos.
Cut-offs have been a staple in my wardrobe for years, but I trade in some of my pairs for more up-to-date items like mini skirts. They've been all over the S / S 21 runways and exciting iterations are being produced by tons of brands.
A wardrobe can not only live on brightly colored pieces, but I also get bored if I wear all the neutral items of clothing this winter. I plan to add the latest color trends to my wardrobe, starting with light yellow.
Since falling down a flight of stairs with a pair of clogs about 16 years ago, I've been hesitant to pick them up again, but I think this is the year. They're one of the biggest shoe trends of the season, so I'm cleaning out some of my outdated rubber slides to make room for them on my shelves.
A whole section of my closet is admittedly devoted to denim jackets and it's a bit much. I'm only wearing a few of these so I guess I'm due for an edit. In their place, I'm currently buying loose blazers that you can't have too often these days.
Next up is the timeless spring capsule wardrobe.
