Hello there 🙂
When it comes to fitness, I've tried pretty much every type of workout you can think of – from HIIT boot camp classes to hot yoga to weight training and ballet. But after trying it out for a long time, I finally found the one training that I actually did religiously: Pilates. I see the most important changes in my body when I do Pilates consistently, and I do indeed Enjoy it. Who knew? I've been engaged for a few years now and even became a Pilates snob. I will only take classes with the Megaformer and the Lagree method because I think this is the most efficient training for your time. (If you're in the LA region, check out The Studio MDR. It's the best!)
Through my consistent Pilates courses, I have also become a bit of a legging snob. I need leggings that keep me comfortable and stretch with me but don't stretch. Oh, and I'm part of a super high waist. I just find it most flattering and comfortable. I've narrowed it down to five legging brands that tick all the boxes, and I keep finding myself. Below are the best legging brands for Pilates, IMO.
If Nordstrom reviews are signs of this, Zella leggings are a cult favorite. They are super tailored and are made of a material that is so soft and comfortable that you can wear them even when you are not going to exercise. My favorite are the Live In High Waist leggings, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I wear them at least three times a week. Oh, and the prices are great. You can't beat $ 59 for quality leggings.
Alo leggings are like the holy grail. They are extremely flattering thanks to the performance fabric that supports you when lifting and holding and at the same time is incredibly comfortable. They also make your derrière look phenomenal. You won't find a brand with aesthetically pleasing colors and designs, so good luck choosing only one pair.
FP Movement is one of the best things that can happen to the activewear world. The leggings are ideal for Pilates and yoga, where you want something comfortable that holds you in place but isn't as thick as you'd want for a HIIT class, for example. FP Movement also always has leggings with the coolest little details, from cutouts to beautiful colors to piping.
Nike is one of those traditional brands that has been around for decades for a reason. The result is a high-performance product that translates into every fitness activity you are in. When you think of Nike, Pilates may not be the first workout that comes to mind, but don't let that fool you. The leggings have all the properties you would be looking for. You may also feel a little sportier if you rock the Nike symbol on your reformer.
Beyond yoga, one of my more recent discoveries is that I am amazed and have been waiting for so long to try. Similar to Alo, the leggings are perfectly tailored, made of fabric that has just the right weight and the right amount of stretch and is always available in the most beautiful colors. I have to stop myself from buying more matching sets now.
