Hello there 🙂
Welcome to month of MeHere we publish a new fashion, beauty or wellness article every day in January, in which we report firsthand how we give up old habits, leave the comfort zone or simply try something new. What have you tried?
Brush dry every day before showering. You don't need to technically take a shower afterwards, but since I knew I was getting rid of dead skin, I thought it was best to do this before taking a shower.
Why did you try
Dry brushing is said to have many advantages, such as B. smoother skin, detoxification of the body, improving the appearance of cellulite and increasing blood circulation. I've always done that, but never consistently.
How did you prepare
Fortunately, I already had a body brush and didn't have to buy one, but it's readily available in many stores, including Amazon.
What happened during the whole process?
Before showering, I used my brush in long and short circular movements towards my heart and only brush lightly on sensitive areas. I concentrated and put more pressure on the back of my thighs as dry brushing is said to work against cellulite.
Years ago I had a body brush that only had bristles, and after a few years I decided to buy a brush with soft knots to try it out. I quickly learned that I don't like the knots and that I prefer a brush with only natural bristles. I think I would have enjoyed the 30 day experience more if I had a brush that I liked better.
There were days when my skin was more sensitive than expected and I had to be a little gentler on my strokes.
How did you feel afterwards? What kind of changes did you notice?
Softer skin is an obvious side effect as I physically exfoliate my entire body every day. I'm not sure it's detoxifying, but I will believe it! It helped with cellulite, but I have to admit that mine was very low at first. I honestly don't think dry brushing is a magical cellulite cure.
What do you like about it?
I enjoyed the feeling of filling my usual routine with this moment of self-care. There were days when I made a whole ritual out of it by applying a face mask, putting on my bathrobe and slippers, enjoying a cup of warm lemon water, and even filling my bathroom with steam before I went in after brushing my showers with one Rub in facial peel and some luxury lotion after I dry off. I basically turned my home into a spa.
What did you hate
I hated that it was an extra step before taking a shower. That may sound contradictory to what I liked the most, but while I loved treating myself on some days, there were definitely days when I just wanted to jump in the shower with no time for my dry brushing first ,
Would you try again?
It's so easy to do, but I don't think it will become a daily habit. I read that doing it three times a week is beneficial.
Any advice for anyone thinking about trying?
I think the best thing about it is that it doesn't have to be a daily thing. Even if you do it a few times a week, there are still benefits. It's an easy way to stimulate your body without having to run, for example. It's not exactly the same, but hey! At least you do something,
