I will never forget the first time I seriously thought about Botox. I've seen an episode of Vanderpump rules when one cast member admitted that she had had the neuromodulator injected into her face since she was 25 to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming. I was 27 then and had never thought about it. In the absence of any significant aging concerns, I just didn't get the point. Still, I wondered if my lack of a botox regimen would at some point lead to a wrinkled little raisin staring at me in the mirror. I didn't mean to lie and started spinning a little.
Well, a few minutes passed and so did my panic. I remembered that the show is taking place in Los Angeles (where I also live), which may be the botox capital of the world, and where starting an injectable regime in your early twenties is more common than starting a 401 (k). And a quick look in the mirror left me with an important memory: I was completely happy with my face. I've always been interested in skin care and have gone to great lengths to protect and maintain my skin. The fact that I haven't noticed any heavy crow's feet, forehead lines, or frowns was actually not that surprising. Then there are the weak lines I. did didn't really bother me.
When: Morning and evening
How often: Daily or as needed
Why i love it: When I juice my dermis with various moisturizing ingredients that are able to reach different layers of the skin, I get plump, firm, elastic skin that bounces back and glows from the inside when I tap. In my eyes, plump skin and youthful looking skin are one and the same thingSo I will never go without the moisturizing products. After all, they act like a refreshing sip of water in my body.
How often: Every day
Why i love it:Antioxidants will always be part of my skin care routine to prevent cell-damaging free radicals from wreaking havoc. My favorite and perhaps most popular antioxidant right now is vitamin C as it increases collagen synthesis (hello plump skin!), Increases luminosity and helps smooth out uneven tones and hyperpigmentation that I am struggling with.
When: Only in the morning
How often: As needed
Why i love it: In case you haven't heard, sunscreen is a must. On days when I'm going to step outside, I always top off my morning routine with a SPF 30 or higher product to make sure my skin is protected. This is in particular Decisive if I've been particularly tough with retinol and other peels. It also helps prevent hyperpigmentation from progressing.
When: Morning or evening
How often: As needed
Why i love it:I love oils! I avoided them at all costs in my youth thanks to the oil-free skin care product marketing madness of the 90s and early 2000s that led me to believe that all oils were evil. But now I use them whenever I feel like my skin needs extra moisture or when I'm removing makeup using the double cleansing method.
