Hello there 🙂

Your makeup artist showed me off at WWW headquarters.

Welcome to Five or Fewer, a new Who What Wear series that offers you the best A-List beauty looks in five (or less!) Easy-to-understand steps. To break down every hair or make-up look, we invite the best beauty talents in the industry – like Margot Robbie's hairdresser – directly to our office in Los Angeles to provide our beauty editors Erin Jahns and Courtney Higgs with a simple guide demonstrate. Next up is Chanel's famous makeup artist, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, Saoirse Ronan's shiny, evergreen eyeshadow moment, which has not only turned the red carpet of this year's Oscars upside down, but also the perfect start to your upcoming spring make-up is up-aesthetics. Keep scrolling to see the non-intimidating game for game and buy the exact products Bua used for Ronan and me.

The moment I sat in front of Bua, I warned her of the current condition of my skin. My complexion washes after an intensive facial treatment that I had received the week before in addition to my normal bout of hormonal breakouts. Ronan was open about her own struggles with acne and Bua immediately calmed my worries that she could easily help disguise persistent bumps or redness.

After Bua prepared my skin and eye area with eye cream and moisturizer, she started to balance my skin tone by pressing Chanel's velvety, buildable covering foundation with my palms into my skin. She explained to me that this primer in particular has a blurring effect that is helpful with pigment or texture problems. (It's also great to take pictures and look amazing on the red carpet.) After most of the redness was leveled, she went in with a foundation brush and concealer to give more love to areas that need more coverage – like my eyes and the specific areas where I broke out. To complete the skin, Bua grabbed Chanel's compact powder foundation (instead of a regular powder) to add an extra layer of super-light covering to areas she wanted to put over my T-zone and under the cheekbones. In order not to look wrinkled or difficult, she didn't use anything under my eyes. Pro Tip: If you're worried or wrinkled, Bua recommends using a brush or sponge sprayed with pure rose water and dabbing and mixing under the eye area to remove excess product that causes wrinkles or could draw attention to them.

To create Ronan's diffuse and quirky evergreen eyelid, Bua twirled a few different shimmering shadows from Chanel. (See the quads linked below). For your information: You can choose which color tones you want to use from each palette, depending on your skin color and color. Here, however, she mixed some shades: the shimmering blue-gray and champagne shades from the Pal Fil de l & # 39; Eau and the shimmering lavender and the sparkling aubergine colors from the Au Fil des Fleurs.

Start by curling your eyelashes, apply a layer of mascara (Bua does this first to avoid mascara mistakes on the eyeshadow), and then saturate your lid with pigment, focusing on the eye contour. Finally, she tapped on a shimmering eye sheen with a purple-blue shimmer in the middle of the lid to get a shiny finish, followed by a thin strip of black liquid liner. For more intensity, you can create a thicker cat's eye, add a few more layers of mascara, or even add some fakes to this mix.

Pro tip: If you have a fair color like Ronan and I, according to Bua, you can also opt for a brown mascara compared to black, which looks a bit softer and more natural. Also try using eye drops instead of water or makeup remover on a Q-Tip to avoid eye area mistakes!

The best way to approach your brows depends on how sparse or full your arches are, in addition to their color. For Ronan, Bua used Chanel's brow pencil followed by a gel, but in my case (since my brows are dark and my hair is so light), Bua wanted to make sure the finish was a bit more diffuse and not too intense. She first used the same crayon that she had used at Ronan to add a definition, and then went in with a powder (a neutral eyeshadow works totally here too!) In a color that was similar to my natural eyebrow color.

Think lips, cheeks and a bit of highlights. To contrast the brilliant shimmer of the eyelids, Bua decided on a subtle, matt-colored lip. She started defining my lips with Chanel's luxurious lipstick, and then went with the brand's mousse-like, light powder liquid lip formula. She added a touch of blush to the apple on each cheek to add a touch of contrast and enhance the contoured look of my cheekbones. She also used Chanel's new liquid highlighter on my collarbones and the highlights of my face to catch the light and add extra luminosity.

Pro tip: Make sure you apply a lip balm at the start of your skin preparation and makeup process so that you can pout and moisturize before you reach the lip stage! Also drink tons and tons of water. Bua said my lips were chapped because I didn't counter my morning cup of coffee with an extra glass of H2O.
