While social media can be a hub for fashion and beauty, skin care is a topic that can get a little tricky, especially when certain products are trending. I would be lying if I said I wasn't guilty of succumbing to a viral product only to be disappointed if it didn't work exactly for my skin. While in skin care it can be easier to follow trends in clothing and makeup, it is important to be careful because what works for others may not work for you, and some products may appear to work , but can actually cause damage and irritation later on. It is important to pay close attention to its ingredients before purchasing any product and, if possible, consult an expert, especially if you are facing certain skin conditions.
Since I've seen some products on social media that have piqued my interest, I thought I would give them an expert test and see if the products were actually worth it or not. I consulted with Kiran Mian, DO, FAAD, a board certified dermatologist based in NYC, who gave me her opinion on seven social products and also included some of her time-tested favorites.
