Hello there 🙂
If the runways of the S / S 21 were signs of this, the trend towards slippers is even bigger than before. Yes, it's no secret that snuggly slippers and sandals were already hugely popular last year, but now that designers are re-rolling them for spring, there are even more reasons to add them to your closet.
One thing I particularly love about the slipper trend? Contrary to what the name suggests, they should actually be worn almost everywhere. On the catwalks, designers created them with cozy sweatshirts, but also with unexpected pieces such as mini dresses, barely existing skirts and luxurious leather items. Take that away? Comfortable shoes are here to stay no matter what you put on or where you go. After taking a break from the heels in my personal wardrobe, I couldn't be happier that cozy shoes are staying here. Check out the 5 slipper trends that will be everywhere in spring 2021.
The first slipper trend I'll add to my closet this spring? Slide sandals. I particularly like the sculptural silhouettes that we saw at Givenchy that feel like a fresh take on the typical sports slide.
I honestly can't think of a shoe I'd want to wear more than the fluffy slippers that can be seen everywhere from Balenciaga to Molly Goddard. I noticed them in bold colors in particular, so this is a fun and easy way to add a pop of color to your outfit.
Last summer, chunky straps took off and they're not slowing down. This time they have special details such as delicate buckles and comfortable straps.
Clogs are one of the most talked about shoe trends among our editors. They exploded on the Instagram fashion scene last fall, and I expect they will pick up momentum on the way into spring. I assume that more polished leather clogs will really take off.
In the collections of designers such as Versace, Erdem and Gabriela Hearst, flatforms are one of the most directional slipper silhouettes of the season. They're a little less practical than the others, but a much-needed helping of fun.
