Hello there 🙂
There is no question that here at Who What Wear we like to keep you up to date with the latest trends on the runways, on the streets and the latest developments. And with a new season just around the corner, there are a whole host of fresh and exciting spring trends that stimulate our Sartorian senses.
This also means that this season it is time to comment on certain trends (after all, we have to make room in our closets). From shortened flared jeans to belt bags, we share eight obsolete trends today, which undeniably originated not so long ago, but will reach their expiration date in spring 2020.
Scroll down to see which current fashion trends we're replacing.
Not too long ago, the only trend in jeans to be seen was the cropped-flared variant (every editor here had a pair), but this season in the 1970s, the fashion sets opted for longer, continuous hems -inspired silhouettes with wide legs, flared legs and boot cut – mainly thanks to their large presence on the runways in spring 2020 from Celine to Marc Jacobs to Gucci.
Okay, while we're not getting rid of our denim jackets (it's a handy little thing, after all), instead we press the pause button on them to prefer the leather shirt jackets. The chicest shackets this season have a slightly oversized fit in innumerable colors (colorful leather was a big runway trend in spring 2020). Whether you button them up, belt them at the waist, or wear them open as a shirt, we guarantee they're your new staple for spring.
Off-the-shoulder tops seem to be a little worn out this season. Instead, opt for strong, swaying, and voluminous puffed sleeves this spring. It's a chic option to combine with your jeans.
The fashion set seems to have a light green tiredness. Instead, they wear strong shades of pink in the form of sweaters, dresses, tailored items and handbags – a color trend that we could see with full force on the catwalks. The color matches wonderfully with beige and tan.
We are definitely not against a one-and-do utility jumpsuit, but their spotlight moment has been replaced with smart and nifty suits. Three-piece suits and layered cuts were the top priority on the runways and gave a polished, sharp and refined look. It's the perfect option to have a drink at the front desk.
When it comes to handbags this spring, the overarching message is The bigger the better, So stow away your less spacious belt bags (a trend that has faded into the background this season) and opt for a larger-than-life carry case instead.
Chunky sneakers have peaked. Now is the time for modern platforms to have their moment – from platform boots from the 70s to slim flatforms – to improve your look with some strong soles.
Tight-fitting, knee-length denim shorts were everywhere last summer (most often with blazers), but spring is all about loose-fitting, long shorts. Think of loose-fitting styles that are worn as part of a suit and prove that shorts Really can look seriously refined.
Next I am a purchasing specialist – I buy these items to be trendy right now.
