Most Wanted is a weekly series in which a Who What Wear team member or a friend of the brand shares the 25 best fashion and beauty finds on their current wish list.
It is finally End of February. In New York, this is the season when mannequins in flower dresses appear optimistic in shop windows and look very lost. It reminds me that I was at JFK the Friday before Christmas when you rushed to your gate with the huge coat that didn't fit in your suitcase and then passed the last people on a flight to Mexico … It is slightly soul-destroying when it's 34ΒΊ for the foreseeable future, but these mannequins are also a beacon of hope and remind us that even on the darkest day we inevitably head for airy fabrics, pastel-colored sandals and all the other things that are guaranteed to put me in a good mood.
Spring simply has a feel-good quality that is just right for you, and this has inspired this most wanted list of the new season in several ways. Although I have not yet discovered a brand that is really "sustainable", I have definitely taken many positive steps, be it as a commitment to responsible materials or cruelty-free beauty products or as a return to local communities. In the Venn diagram with happy spring purchases and mindful purchases, the 25 items are overlapped – that is, they double with the feel-good buzz.
The dimensions of this really excellent bag with a bamboo handle suggest that it fits my laptop perfectly and is therefore prepared to brighten my work from March to September. Better still, it is handcrafted in Brazil by local communities that work at Nannacay (which by the way means "Brotherhood of Women").
Feel very good with this cheerful hibiscus print and the elegant lower back of this Matteau dress. I saw a friend of a friend in Sydney wearing it on Instagram and sneaked through her feed to track it down. And yes, I feel good about it because this is definitely what I'm going to wear to one of the more casual wedding events I have for some friends' wedding later this summer. I also feel good that it is machine washable as I try to buy less "dry cleaning only".
I have been torturing myself with swimwear since December. Ganni's new swimwear is as cool as expected and I like to wear this muted fluor green number with high-waisted trousers when there is no pool in sight. The feel-good bonus is that this range is made from 92% recycled polyester and 8% elastane, and Ganni "climate compensates" to cover the cost of neutralizing the carbon footprint of each garment.
Just keep sending me all the links to makeup without makeup that will make you look radiant and moist (as opposed to shiny and glittering). I'm really excited to try this new Gucci beauty range, especially given the extremely friendly price. Feel comfortable with the pet-friendly vegan formula and the fact that once you've used it all up, you'll have an extremely desirable, highly reusable little pink Gucci pot that you can put your earrings in perfectly while traveling.
I dare you to give me a happier shade of yellow. This 90s-inspired dress is made from recycled polyester and is further proof that Maggie Marilyn's designs always hit me where I want my dresses to be in the modern and pretty spectrum. As a kiwi, I always feel good when I wear New Zealand designers, but I feel particularly good about everything from Maggie because I know I support the most delightful person who really, really does their best to make fashion so mindful and transparent how to make human possible.
That's why Farfetch partnered with an agency called Good on You to help us all understand the elements on their website that perform well based on a number of ethical criteria. I personally rate this attitude to the spring shirt 10/10 for the thoughtful cracking and the dramatic neckline. (Dramatic collars become a whole thing.)
This find makes me particularly happy because I seem to have spent my entire adult life looking for a chill denim jacket that feels better put together than your standard (so I can look chilled but put together through associations). This handsome man was designed in Stockholm from sustainable material and still manages to get under $ 100. Happy Days.
I love a big, chunky signet ring, and the light green jade feels like spring to me. This special, 80s-inspired design by Loren Stewart was made in the United States from recycled gold vermeil.
This relaxed blazer is my answer to the spring suit. You can feel good with the vegan leather, especially since Nanushkas is exceptionally weak and buttery. I invite you to wear it over a ribbed white racerback tank and …
… the right wrap skirt or …
… Or these magnificent high-rise trousers with straight legs. Just don't add floss sandals.
Speaking of sandals, I still feel very good with a square toe and even better with all this gold hardware. Stella McCartney has been a leader in cruelty-free fashion from my memory and I've always found her shoes to be of incredible quality.
Racerback tanks always feel effortless and are a staple in my spring / summer wardrobe, whether I wear them with high-waisted trousers or put them under a slip dress. Kowtow is extremely transparent with all the details of its production and supply chain, from the ingredients in its dyes to the sprays and seeds used on the farms where their cotton is grown. The brand also offers free repairs to extend the life of your garments, making you feel comfortable for longer.
I am a follower of Dr. Hauschka's Translucent Bronzing Tint since my sister gave me a few years ago, but I'm thinking about confusing it with these Drunk Elephant Sunshine Drops. And yes, mainly because the brand supports the International Elephant Foundation. (I don't apologize for how much I love elephants). I think a tiny drop is perfect to counteract the ultra-white sunscreen on the face. Mixed with moisturizer, it creates a happy, spring-ready glow.
These faux leather jeans make me so happy. They manage to be pretty big and super chilled at the same time, which is exactly what I'm looking for in pants. Simon Miller is known for his sustainability efforts in terms of water conservation and minimal impact on the product, as well as for working with independent, family-run mills.
I know people love spring white jeans, but I personally love black denim to add a little touch to all of these happy spring tops. Everyone loved the shortened Ribcage Levi's, but they're too short for me, so I have high hopes for this wide-leg style. Speaking of hope: Levi & # 39; s now manufactures half of its products (including these jeans) with new production techniques that help them save almost 2 billion liters of water and recycle even more.
This fresh mint green is a good addition to a mild spring pastel – and see what I mean by embellishing it with black denim? I really love luxurious, laid-back tailoring, and buying from Everlane's environmentally conscious Clean Silk line also means keeping the transparency clicked to see the exact factory where a garment was made.
Spring is the perfect time for a white sneaker refreshment. Veja, the Parisian brand loved by Meghan Markle, which makes environmentally friendly shoes from Brazil, has been touted as the most sustainable sneaker in the world. They use materials such as wild rubber that were purchased directly from local communities and are reported to receive 120,000 hectares of the Amazon.
This feels like the next iteration of the leopard-print skirt that took over Instagram in 2018 – just a little higher. Among all the massive efforts of the Reformation to put sustainability at the center (it has been climate neutral since 2015), I find the simplicity of this practical guide great, with which you learn how to care for your clothes more energy-efficiently.
While we're here, we want to call out the Reformation again with these white pleated jeans. Specially designed in this way, they happily remind that the feeling of spring does not necessarily mean pastel and flowers. I just remembered what it feels like to have dinner outside in a restaurant in the middle of summer, and I can't wait.
I love Meadowlark. I have some of his pieces (including this ring and earrings) and can personally vouch that they are wonderful people who work with conflict-free stones and recovered diamonds. I am very happy to finally take off the turtleneck that I have been wearing for three months in a row and to layer my gold chains again (ideally with this one).
When I finally get the pleasure of getting a pedicure and going home in flip-flops, I know it's really spring. I can't remember the last time I painted my nails, so I'm looking forward to finding some new poppy colors. Ella + Mila is my point of contact for locally produced, animal-friendly polish that is free of the seven big mean things.
The three-piece suit appears to have a moment in women's fashion, which means the vests will come out and play this spring. Matching pleated shorts are almost too cute to handle. As a bonus, this set consists of 100% environmentally friendly linen.
I can't wait for it to be warm enough to wear such outfits to work for, because I'm really happiest at work when I wear pajamas that are basically office-friendly. These lightly printed pants are made from a vegetable material called Lyocell and come from the sustainable No Frills line from Mother of Pearl.
I can hardly cope with this Mara Hoffman dress. In addition to being comfortable with the custom print and amazing sleeves, the brand prioritizes natural and recycled materials, supports artisan groups in developing countries, and is committed to making its global business partners responsible for everything from work practices to material sourcing.
