Hello there 🙂
In the meantime, you have probably suspected that we are testing many beauty products here in the Who What Wear HQ. From nail polish and make-up to hair and skin care, we are eyebrow-deep in all new, exciting and, yes, wish list-worthy things. However, due to the number of products we come into contact with, we have also become the most fussy beauty consumer. Within seconds we can tell if a new hair oil is too heavy and we quickly ignore a serum that gives disappointing results.
The good news? We're much more impressed than not impressed after trying a new product, and normally we just can't wait to tell all of our beauty junkies (aka you) about it. That's why we decided that flooding our latest favorite products should become a monthly ritual. Around every 30 days you can expect a full report listing the highlighters, hairsticks, and skincare savers that we quickly fell in love with overnight.
For the most part, we'll be dealing with Buzzworthy product launches (since these are usually the bulk of the promotion on our product-filled desks), but we won't reject any new products for ourselves either. Because hey, sometimes our best discoveries can be found in a friend's vanity or someone else's face at the bar – true story. In front of us the best beauty products we tried in February! Grab your game face and your wallet. You will need both.
February was the month of IS Clinical for me, and February was also the month when my skin finally started to clear up. Coincidence? I do not think so. I've been familiar with the brand for a few years and have tried certain products here and there, but it wasn't until I saw Victoria Beckham's beautician, Melanie Grant, that I found out which products came from the line. Best suited for my sensitive, skin prone to congestion. I'm obsessed with every single IS product I've added to my carefully crafted program (The Cleansing Complex, $ 44; The Copper Firming Mist, $ 35; The Hydra-Cool Serum, $ 94; The Youth Eye Complex, $ 105; Youth Lip Elixir, $ 58), but it's this luxurious warming cleanser that got me off my feet and seriously helped me get a leg on my acne and scars. It penetrates deep into your pores with raw honey, royal jelly and propolis to naturally eradicate bacteria and debris while exfoliating gently with papaya and green tea. It's also the most moisturizing, non-strippable cleanser I've ever tried, and it's the best EOD ritual to massage it all over my face (it smells so amazing). In extremely exciting news, Augustinus Bader, in collaboration with Victoria Beckham Beauty, dropped another mega-hybrid of skin care and beauty this month. It is a serum and it is so fantastic and multitasking that you can probably use it alone in combination with your detergent and moisturizer and live your best skin life. Of course, it contains Bader's patented TFC8 complex, which is known for its great anti-aging benefits, but this serum also contains hyaluronic acid, brightening niacinamide and other beautiful plant substances and ingredients that are supposed to keep your skin in top condition times. I was obsessed with how makeup looks like. I was obsessed with Beautyblender's Bounce Liquid Whip Longwear Foundation ($ 40) when it came out a little over a year ago. So you can imagine how excited I was when the brand launched a matching new concealer! Not only are the colors really, really great, but this concealment bar also offers the most impressive coverage and wear I've ever seen from a concealer. I used too much the first time I wore it because you need about half the amount of product you are used to – I guarantee it. I need a LOT to fall in love with and recommend a new mascara find, but when I tried this iconic Charlotte Tilbury wand on our review of the brand's best-selling products, I couldn't believe my eyes (literally) , Unlike almost every other mascara on the market, it actually does what it promises. It kept my long, sagging lashes perfectly curled and added impressive volume and length. I have received so many compliments on my eyelashes since I wear them more regularly. This balm in the cult classic orgasm is always in my make-up bag, and I honestly wouldn't have thought that the delicate shimmering pink could be crowned. Well, I'm corrected. Deep Throat was my favorite lippie this month. It moisturizes, subtle shine (without stickiness) and a hint of berry color on your lips. Do not get me wrong. I've tried some really amazing self-tanning formulas during my career as a beauty editor, and I wholeheartedly think that technology is getting better and better. However, this three-step browning set by UK-based pro tanning artist Amanda Harrington must see the cake as the best self-tanning I've ever used. (Entertaining fact: Vogue described Harrington as "Michelangelo of tanning.") I admit that I was initially a little intimidated by the various steps and processes involved – usually the foaming of a mousse with a glove in front of the bed is the name of the Game for me – but this self-tanning experience is actually so easy, so goofy-sure, and can I say it? Enjoyable. You start with the pre-color primer that moisturizes your skin and has a low level of gradual tanning agents to give you the perfect base for your artificial tan. After you have sat down and dried, put on the gloves and pump the mousse into your palms and smooth the product all over from top to bottom. It hardly smells, it dries CRAZY quickly (but not so quickly that you can't mix perfectly) and the color is really fantastic. Finally, take the large, fluffy brush and polish it into your skin all over your body for an extra mix you want to apply. If you wish, you can pump some mousse directly onto the brush and apply it to areas of the body you want to contour like the outer and inner parts of your leg, stomach, collarbones or chest. It’s so great. Honestly, I didn't know how good a self tan could be until I tried this product, and I'm a STAN self tan. Glow Recipe made its first foray into skin care with makeup, and it was worth the wait for Watermelon Glow Lip Pop. I don't usually like lip scrubs – nor stick or balm shapes – but this juicy pink start is so outstanding and officially converted me. It's a three-in-one scrub to the balm that instantly banishes nicks or scales (seriously, the finish is so smooth), soaks your lips with moisture, and gives you that hint of pink tint that's so pretty. It also smells incredibly nostalgic – like my watermelon lip teaser, which I kept on my dazzling belt loop in elementary school. I can't stop painting my nails with Essie's new quick-drying Expressie nail polishes. They are 8-free and vegan, available in 40 different colors, dry SO quickly, have a super-glossy, long-lasting finish and the brush is strategically angled to make application easier and easier. Green is not usually my color, but I was unusually obsessed with this shade called Precious Cargo-go! I sleep an average of six hours a night, so concealer is one of the most important products in my makeup routine. Needless to say, I really wanted to try the new Kosas concealer. I was really impressed with how good the reporting was and how easy it was to mix it up, as these two things don't always go hand in hand. It is super durable (this photo was taken seven hours after application) and does not crease at all. In addition, the color palette is great especially for a new entry. I am addicted. This is not a brand new product, but I just tried it with the new Kosas Concealer for the first time. Heavy foundations are not my thing, so I was fascinated by this extremely light oil. Despite the name, my skin didn't look greasy at all. It looks like skin – not too dull, not too damp. It spreads so easily and sinks immediately, which provides sheer coverage. Although the color I have appears dark to me, you can't even tell when I'm applying it. (Just make sure your other skin care products work first, as they will pill if you apply them too early.) I generally shy away from trying too many new products and subscribing to the old "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, but I'm a fool for KNC. After being obsessed with the lip masks and telling all of my friends about it, the brand gained my trust and I was delighted to see that it was just coming out with a new lip scrub – just as winter was about to get the most out of it to get me out. After using it only once, I immediately felt relieved by the dryness and cracks I have experienced in the past few months. Unlike other lip scrubs I've used, not only is it exfoliated, but your lips are also moisturized, so you don't have to apply anything else after using. Highly recommended for everyone whose lip balm has failed this season! Lately I can't live without my ZIIP and even packed it for a trip to Italy. The micro power device has settings that you can synchronize with your iPhone. It offers a range of treatments ranging from facial lifting and sculpting to spot treatment for outbreaks. I use it at home, but it is particularly useful when I am traveling and trying to combat swelling from flights. I recently added Circumference Vital-C Antioxidant Daily Serum to my skin care regimen and noticed such a big difference in my complexion. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin C, olive leaf extract and B3, my skin leaves a lighter and more even complexion and at the same time protects it from harmful pollution. It is also filled with moisture-promoting hyaluronic acid, which provides my skin with great moisture. I recently got the mini version of it as an example from Sephora. Frankly, it couldn't have come at a better time. I've been struggling with dry facial skin since I returned from NY to LA, so I've tried almost EVERYTHING. This cream was rich but not oily at all, and my skin felt hydrated, fresh, and moist. I used every piece of the example and immediately bought the full version after I ran out. CBD is still a vibrant ingredient in the world of beauty and well-being, and although I'm not entirely convinced of its effectiveness on certain products, I know that this lip balm is impressive enough to make a place in my everyday beauty bag , First and foremost, the screw-on tube design is so chic – I hate when the cap falls off in my pocket and the product picks up every piece of fluff and crumbs imaginable – so this design completely eliminates product waste on this front. Second, it's super moisturizing, so I only have to reapply a few times a day (after a meal or drink) instead of what it feels like every five minutes in the cold winters of NYC. The subtle mint flavor is nice too. 2020 is all about the eyes for me. I'm a little late, but this user-friendly product has helped me integrate eye care into my morning and evening routines. Since it is a rollerball, it is easy to use and eliminates fear of overuse or spillage. Also, my eyes had been unusually dry lately, but not anymore. This oil goes well with my concealer, and I've even noticed that I use a few points less because my bags are a little less noticeable. The rollerball also has a nice cooling effect that, together with green tea and coffee beans, helps with morning dehumidification. I think January and February were extremely dry months because my hair was a wreck. It came to a point where even my beloved wet brush was no longer enough to untangle my hair, so I tried this leave-in conditioner. Usually my fine strands cannot process much product, but I was desperate. Not only did this leave-in conditioner keep me confused after showering and between washes, it also reduced the static electricity caused by removing hats and scarves, and it smelled amazing. It's not something I can use every day (fine hair problems again), but if you're an adult woman dealing with a toddler's dry, tangled hair, I strongly recommend trying it out Although it was an extremely mild winter in New York, I am impatiently waiting for longer days and warmer temperatures. While I usually have a moody dark winter hue on my nails between October and March, it got to a point where I just needed a splash of color to keep the mood bright. Fortunately, Olive & June presented their new Superbloom set just in time. As I type this, not only do I wear the sage-meets-mint green shade on my nails, I also made my mani at home and saved a few dollars while indulging in my latest TV binge, Good Girls have. Who needs Groundhog Day when you have Olive & June to start the countdown until spring? Next, read all about the best beauty products that we tried in January.
