Hello there 🙂

Last year, my husband Mark and I did something we never thought we would do (at least not at this point in our lives): we built a house in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was definitely difficult, but just as rewarding. We had lived in apartments for 15 years, so building the first house from there was pretty amazing. One of the most overwhelming things is that we decided to set up the entire house at once. The reason for this was that we weren't a big priority when it came to renting apartments, buying furniture and home decor, and most of what we had wasn't suitable for the new house. So we cleaned it afterwards and basically started from scratch. Fortunately, we had the help of our amazing interior designer Dana Waldron to tackle the massive undertaking.

The initial phase of a huge project is the most overwhelming, but by focusing on the brands that I mainly wanted to use, it really helped narrow down the competitive conditions and determine the design direction we were going (which was very California inspired) modern mid-century accents). Keep scrolling to see how it turned out for you and buy the home decor brands without which I would have been lost.

We have so much our furniture from Lulu and Georgia (including essential items like our sofa and bed). The pieces are very well made (which was important to us as we wanted everything to last). The selection fits perfectly with our modern sensibility and is nevertheless classic enough to pass the test of time.

Parachute has long been my focal point for bedding, but we went one step further and also bought all our towels from the brand (they are so absorbent and cozy) as well as my favorite throw (shown in the living room, the sofa above) and a shower curtain. I am a parachute fan for life.

France & Son is an excellent source of lighting (the reasonable prices blew me away) and modern furniture from the mid-century. (I particularly like the meaningful lounge chairs.) It offers free shipping on many items, which is so nice because the shipping costs for furniture can be so high steep,

We decided against a carpet in the house, but this meant that carpets were at the top of our shopping list. Fortunately, the Scandinavian carpet company Nordic Knots produces beautiful, modern carpets without a high premium. We put them both in our offices and in our main bathroom.

Article is the hugely popular Canadian direct furniture brand, which is an amazing source of modern pieces. If you want to achieve a Scandi or mid-century modern aesthetic without breaking the bank, you can equip your entire home with items.

Citizenship is an excellent source of beautiful handmade accent pieces. Between the pillows, carpets, planters and the curated selection of furniture, you will find everything you need to achieve this sought-after, relaxed Cali look.

Since we bought our first king bed, we had to find matching king pillows. Boll & Branch is undoubtedly the source of the best pillows I've ever put my head on. I hear that the sheets and towels are amazing too, which I hope to confirm for myself in the future.

Beni Rugs is the brilliant brand that makes handmade Moroccan carpets accessible to the masses. The customizable carpets are made to order in the Atlas Mountains in Africa. So you have to be patient while waiting for your arrival, but it's worth it. My feet have never touched anything softer and more positive.

Schoolhouse is a Portland-based brand that offers everything from lights to hardware to home furnishings that give your home a retro feel. I've added some of his chic, useful pieces to my office that I spend more time in than any other part of the house. (I work from home.)

The Hudson Valley Lighting Group consists of four brands (Hudson Valley Lighting, Mitzi from HVL, Troy Lighting and Corbett Lighting) that all address different types of home decor. Most of our lights were dramatic, gold, and modern, and there were countless beautiful options between the four brands that were just right for you.

The container store created my dream closet (see all photos here), but I also bought the wealth of organizational accessories from the brand for my closet and the rest of the house. There is no better place to buy functional items that are as chic as they are useful.

Scroll through the inventory of made goods and you will quickly put together a long wish list. (Trust me.) The pieces are beautifully made and the designs are timeless. (Just a heads up that it only sells its pieces to industry professionals, e.g. interior designers.)

I can't say enough good things about rejuvenation. The mirrors and lights in particular are beautifully finished, very aesthetic and do not break the bank. I am obsessed with these pendant lights that we wanted to drive across the kitchen island.

CB2 is my first choice for trendy items that give a room the wow factor, like these woven leather armchairs that make every fashion girl think of Bottega Veneta. We placed many CB2 orders during this process and were very happy with every item that arrived.

Next up are the fashion, beauty and household items that I deleted when I moved.
