I get it. Having 10 different masks on hand to solve my acne problems may seem overkill. But if you had seen the abominations littered with products that are my desk, my car, my bedroom floor, and my bathroom vanity, you'd be very impressed that I managed to reduce them to a proven 10.
As someone with annoyingly fussy skin, I take my product selection fairly seriously – including my masking formulas. (Um, you wouldn't believe how many times an "anti-acne" product actually produced acne – not ideal.) So because I have quite a bit of hunting experience the The best face masks for acne across the country. I share the only formulas that consistently clarify and fade my breakouts. Because yes, acne scars are inevitable. In front of me are 10 of the best face masks for acne that I always have on hand. (You never know when this rogue pick will strike.) Keep scrolling!
Fair warning: This mask stinks – but only in the truest sense of the word. This is because it contains the coarse-grained (and yes, smelly) ingredients that a complexion prone to acne needs from time to time. Think of this mask as a strange, green-colored dose of hard love. As the name suggests, the hero ingredient in this face mask is sulfur, which is not exactly pleasant to sniff, but is incredibly effective in drying out and banishing stubborn pimples or two or three.
If you love clean, organic, elegantly packaged skin care, but also want something that is really effective against acne – not just laconic – then this Tata Harper favorite is the gold standard. It's green and looks swampy (yes, I've got a topic here), but it does contain loads of beautifying skin ingredients like exfoliating AHA super fruits (you need acids in your life if you have acne, folks), super seeds, and quartz micro – crystals.
The prominent beautician Olga Lorencin is known for her red carpet-worthy facials, and her ingenious facials in a box are the next best thing to visit the woman herself. (A-List customers like Halle Berry are fans too!) Because of my acne problems, I choose the Deep Detox version, but the Ageless and Red Carpet options are also fabulous. There are three steps in the kit: a peeling, a neutralizer and the actual mask. And yes, problems like blackheads and other burgeoning bumps go away almost instantly, or at least look much less threatening in the morning. (I like to do the system at night while I'm using Netflix.)
This is the latest launch of the mega favorite brand The Ordinary and a stroke of luck for those suffering from acne. It is infused with charcoal and clay, which sucks the mass out of the compromised pores pretty much directly. The skin feels detoxified, smooth and perfectly radiant – not shabby for just $ 12!
Okay, bold statement ahead, but this ridiculously gorgeous face mask (it looks like a Cerulean pool of fairy water) makes my five most popular skin care products of all time. Nothing cleanses my acne or makes my skin more radiant and radiant than once a week, and while the formula tingles and burns a little (these are the peeling enzymes salicylic acid, pumpkin and pineapple, azelaic acid and lactic acid when they do their thing!) it calms down relatively quickly and the end result is worth every initial discomfort.
Goldfaden MD is one of those dark horse brands that aren't that mainstream, but so, so good. You can't go wrong with any of the brand's formulas, and I own some, but this detox in a tub is one of my favorite things to do when my skin is flared up. Unlike some acne face masks, it is surprisingly gentle and has additional moisturizers like avocado and jojoba oils that help the skin retain moisture (important for breakouts!) Without peeling, clogging, or burning.
This cute little mask from True Botanicals is the newest acne fighter I've added to my collection and will quickly become a favorite. The most important MVP ingredients include lactic acid, cell-moistening avocado butter and the lightening super-agent astaxanthin. All you have to do is apply it to a clean face at night if you feel your skin is suspicious, wait two to five minutes, and then rinse gently with warm water and pat dry. It's moisturizing, but make sure you follow with your favorite face cream.
May Lindstrom is the magical creator of some of the most luxurious and divine scented natural skin care products in the game. This face mask contains a number of antibacterial ingredients like raw honey and witch hazel that are strategically anchored by other tasty things like clay, colloidal silver and vegetable oils. It can also be conveniently used as a detergent or mask.
There are a lot of acne face masks that claim to be a facial in a box or jar, but this Goop fan-favorite formula is really the talk of the pack. It contains important AHAs and BHAs to remove dull and pimple-promoting deposits and at the same time to maintain vitamin B5, aloe and other skin-loving fruit extracts that calm, smooth and plump an all-round healthier complexion.
